The next right thing is the only choice

Cammie Copello gets results—even if it means stretching the rules. That's what makes her a great private investigator. It's also what caused the little breach between her and attorney Marc Hamilton. It's too bad, because they made a great team. And, honestly, her career hasn't been the same since.

So imagine her surprise when Marc shows up begging for her help with a personal case. When he turns on the charm…well, she can't refuse. But she can keep her attraction to Marc a secret—regardless of how tempting he is. Her intentions are put to the test, however, when he proves that the attraction is not one-sided!

I signed up for a blog tour for Hearts in Vegas, the third book in a series & I was very excited to get to read the first two books! The Next Right Thing is the first book in the series & I have to say it is a great start! It was different than what I was expecting, but not in a bad way. It did start off a little slow but it picked up quickly. I really loved Cammie & her investigating and I can't wait to read more PI stories!

A princess, trained to behave. An assassin, betrothed to her. A thief, whose eyes she dreams of at night. A kingdom at war, torn apart by the suppression of magic and truth, as well as family secrets that threaten to destroy decades of peace.
Questions of loyalty, of morality, and of free will culminate in a fantasy novel about forging one’s own path and choosing one’s own destiny.

About the Author
Sarah Daltry writes about the regular people who populate our lives. She’s written works in various genres – romance, erotica, fantasy, horror. Genre isn’t as important as telling a story about people and how their lives unfold. Sarah tends to focus on YA/NA characters but she’s been known to shake it up. Most of her stories are about relationships – romantic, familial, friendly – because love and empathy are the foundation of life. It doesn’t matter if the story is set in contemporary NY, historical Britain, or a fantasy world in the future – human beings are most interesting in the ways they interact with others. This is the principle behind all of Sarah’s stories.

Sarah has spent most of her life in school, from her BA and MA in English and writing to teaching both at the high school and college level. She also loves studying art history and really anything because learning is fun.

When Sarah isn’t writing, she tends to waste a lot of time checking Facebook for pictures of cats, shooting virtual zombies, and simply staring out the window.

Wanted: one convenient wife

Venture capitalist Leo Reynolds is married to his work, but now he needs a wife. Someone to run his home, host his parties...and accept a marriage that's strictly business. His one rule: love will play no part in their union. At least that's the lie he tells himself, until he meets his match.

Enter Daniella White--handpicked by the matchmaker as the perfect wife. Marriage to Leo means security, and she's willing to give up passion for friendship. But the moment they meet, sparks fly. And now temptation--and Leo's own heart--have the billionaire ready to change all the rules.

I'm really torn with my feelings about this book. There were so many things that I liked but there were a few things I didn't like, things that were kind of a big deal. I didn't like Leo for the majority of the book. He was constantly running hot & cold, with no warning & his obsessive personality was kind of annoying.  I wasn't a huge fan of Daniella either..for part of the book she was trying to suppress who she really was & for the other part it was like she was trying to manipulate her husband. The overall story was good & I feel like if the two main characters had been portrayed a little differently it could have been a great story.

On a world where high school test scores determine your future, six students rebel. They’ll outrun society as fast as their questionably obtained
spaceship will take them.

Rhiannon doesn’t technically cheat the Test. She’s smarter than the computers that administer it, and she uses that to her advantage. She emerges from Test Day with the most prestigious future career possible: Hive Queen.

Gwyn & Victor are madly in love, but their Test results will tear them apart. Good thing Rhiannon is Gwyn’s best friend. Rhiannon can fix this. Queens can do anything.

Gavin is the wild card. Raised off-planet, he can’t wait to leave again... and he’s heard of an empty ship in orbit. The Ceridwen’s Cauldron.

Both Luciano and Alan fit in the system. They don’t need to leave. Only their devotion to Rhiannon spurs them to join the Cauldron’s crew.

Spaceships. Blackmail. Anywhere but here.

I have to admit that I was not a huge fan of this book at first. Science Fiction is not a genre that I typically read a lot of, however it sounded interesting so when I got a chance to be part of the Hive & Heist Blog Tour I jumped at it! I almost stopped reading, but then I read some reviews and everyone was raving about the book, so I decided to give it another chance. I'm definitely glad I did.

I'm sure this will annoy some people but I really REALLY don't like Gwyn or Victor. Victor starts to grow on me, especially at the end. But I just can't make myself like Gwyn. I just don't like the fact that she doesn't seem to care about what her supposed "best friend" Rhiannon wants/needs. Rhiannon always puts her friend first, to a point that annoyed me, but Gwyn doesn't seem to realize how much Rhiannon sacrifices for her. I hope Gwyn changes in the next book, because I really can't stand her.

The storyline was interesting & very new for me, being a Science Fiction novice. I loved watching Rhiannon grow into a true Queen & Commander! I am excited to start book 2 & very glad I signed up for this tour!

Queen Rhiannon and her Hive have found safety on John Wayne Station, but with no way to pay their docking fees or Victor’s medical bills, their debts are racking up quickly. Thankfully, Gavin gets a job with American Space Ranger M3L-15-A, who’s hot on the trail of dangerous criminals.

The teens move in with their Ranger benefactor, but when they revisit their ship to pick up personal belongings, they realize their Alcubierre tensor jet has been stolen!

If Rhiannon and her Hivemates ever hope to leave, they must find and steal back what’s theirs. But far from home and among strangers, who can they trust? Will they be stuck on John Wayne for the rest of their lives?

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed Book 1, but it was still a good continuation of the story that was started in Queen & Commander. The point of view jumped around a lot in this book, which I really wasn't a huge fan of.  The story was also pretty slow in the beginning, at least in my opinion, but it did seem to pick up about half way through. All in all I think if you liked Queen & Commander you should give this one a chance as well!

Why We Read It:
Book Club book for June!

It’s been thirteen years since Lucy Sheridan was in Summer River. The last time she visited her aunt Sara there, as a teenager, she’d been sent home suddenly after being dragged out of a wild party—by the guy she had a crush on, just to make it more embarrassing. Obviously Mason Fletcher—only a few years older but somehow a lot more of a grown-up—was the overprotective type who thought he had to come to her rescue.

Now, returning after her aunt’s fatal car accident, Lucy is learning there was more to the story than she realized at the time. Mason had saved her from a very nasty crime that night—and soon afterward, Tristan, the cold-blooded rich kid who’d targeted her, disappeared mysteriously, his body never found.

A lot has changed in thirteen years. Lucy now works for a private investigation firm as a forensic genealogist, while Mason has quit the police force to run a successful security firm with his brother—though he still knows his way around a wrench when he fills in at his uncle’s local hardware store. Even Summer River has changed, from a sleepy farm town into a trendy upscale spot in California’s wine country. But Mason is still a protector at heart, a serious (and seriously attractive) man. And when he and Lucy make a shocking discovery inside Sara’s house, and some of Tristan’s old friends start acting suspicious, Mason’s quietly fierce instincts kick into gear. He saved Lucy once, and he’ll save her again. But this time, she insists on playing a role in her own rescue . . .

One of my favorite things about Book Club is that it each month someone different picks the book. We all have such different tastes/interests that I am constantly reading something that I probably wouldn't have picked up on my own! River Road was definitely one that I enjoyed reading!

I loved a lot of things about this book! I loved that it constantly kept me guessing about something: Who killed Tristan? Was Sara & Mary's deaths an accident? If not, who were they after? Who was really behind everything? I was constantly surprised by what was being revealed! I also really loved Lucy & Mason and loved the romance that was woven throughout the book! I definitely was glad that this book got picked for book club & it makes me want to read more Romantic-Suspense books!

No name. No past. No remorse. Perfect, that is, until he began to ask questions and challenge his orders. Now The Program is worried that their valuable soldier has become a liability.

And so Boy Nobody is given a new mission. A test of sorts. A chance to prove his loyalty.

His objective: Take out Eugene Moore, the owner of an extremist military training camp for teenagers. It sounds like a simple task, but a previous operative couldn't do it. He lost the mission and is presumed dead. Now our assassin is confident he can finish the job. Quickly.

But when things go awry, Boy Nobody finds himself lost in a mission where nothing is as it seems: not The Program, his allegiances, nor the truth.

The riveting second book in Allen Zadoff's The Unknown Assassin series delivers heart-pounding action and a shocking new twist that makes our hero question everything he has believed.

I was looking for something different to help kick start my summer of reading & when I opened up the email about this blog tour I knew it was just the series! I read I am the Mission fairly quickly & have to say that I really enjoyed it! I have a thing for anything relating to assassins and secret programs/groups & this book was filled with everything I could want! The things that this teen is experiencing are so far from the typical teenage life that it is impossible not to get completely sucked into the world that Zadoff has created!

If you are looking for something to add some adventure to your summer you should definitely check out The Unknown Assassin series by Allen Zadoff & when you do make sure to let me know what you think! I'll just be over here anxiously waiting for the next book!

Our Rating: 3 stars

Maddy Wainright has given up on marriage - and men. After dating way too many losers who aren't capable of appreciating her for who she is, she's about ready to resign herself to a life of spinsterhood. Until her insanely rich boss Daniel Thorne comes along with an offer she simply can't refuse.

He proposes a marriage of convenience - one that would allow Maddy to live in the lap of luxury for a year, and Mr. Thorne to stay in the country that has become his home. At the end of their arrangement, Maddy will walk away with a cool two million dollars. All she has to do is move into his mansion, put on a convincing show in public, and endure a few INS interviews, for which she will be thoroughly prepped. It's a big risk, but one Maddy might just be willing to take, considering the payoff.

At first, it's all business. But when the gentle touches, passionate kisses, and lingering looks they have to give each other in public start spilling over into their private life, Daniel and his devious mind take Maddy to heights of pleasure she's never experienced. And the more she gets to know him, the more she feels that wistful tug in her chest every time he puts his arm around her in public. Before long, she finds herself wishing it were real.

As time goes on, Maddy finds herself wondering if two million dollars will be enough to cover the cost of repairing a broken heart. But Mr. Thorne may have yet another secret in store..

I don't really have much to say besides the info above. The story was cute & definitely kept my interested but it really didn't have anything that "wowed" me.  The concept was just something that has been done too many times for my taste. Despite that it was still a fun read & I would suggest downloading it, since it is currently free!

Sara should be happy.

She has what every girl wants: a man who loves her, a beautiful home, and wealth beyond imagining.

She rescued her brother from the Peacekeepers, destroyed the Iron Queen, and doesn’t have to go to her boring job any more.

And yet... Sara still doesn’t know if her father is alive or dead. Her mother hides in the garden, brooding about her missing husband. Her sister, the Inheritor of Metal, is scared of her own shadow, and her brother spends his days fighting and gambling. To add to Sara’s misery, the new queen (gold, of course) is more than a bit crazy, she misses her life in the Mundane world, and, worst of all, Micah wants to have children. A lot of them.

As Sara wavers between happiness and homesickness, a conspiracy emerges against the Raven clan,
implicating them in a plot to dethrone the Gold Queen. How can Sara prove her family’s innocence, and become the consort Micah needs her to be, without losing herself in the process?

Why We Picked it: Participating in Blog Tour for Copper Raven, the 2nd book in the series

Our Rating:  4 stars

 Sara had always been careful.

She never spoke of magic, never associated with those suspected of handling magic, never thought of magic, and never, ever, let anyone see her mark. After all, the last thing she wanted was to end up missing, like her father and brother.

Then, a silver elf pushed his way into Sara's dream, and her life became anything but ordinary.

When we decided to be part of the Blog Tour for Copper Raven we knew that it would be important to read book 1 in the series, that way we would be able to give an accurate review of the story.  I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book but it definitely wasn't what I got!

Sara lives in a world where she has to hide her magic in order to stay safe. Afraid that she my end up like her father & brother she does all she can to avoid any trace of magic. Unfortunately, she can't seem to stay away from magic in her dreams, which is how she meets Micah. She quickly finds herself falling for him & getting involved in things that she never imagined.

This book definitely grabbed my attention quickly. It felt new & fresh & somehow different than anything I've read. I wasn't a huge fan of the writing style, but the storyline was so interesting that it was easy to ignore what I didn't like! This book definitely made me excited to start Copper Raven!

England, 1857

After a blow to her head, Sarah Marks awakens in a strange bed with a strange man and no memory of how she got there. Her handsome bedmate, Lord Eastleigh, tells her she's suffering from amnesia, and the best course of action is to travel home with him until she recovers her memory.

Lord Eastleigh has his own reasons for helping Sarah and keeping her close. Reasons he cannot tell her. As they struggle to restore her memory, their undeniable, inadvisable attraction grows—until Sarah finally remembers the one thing that could keep them apart forever.

I started this book late one night, simply looking for something to read while soaking in a bubble bath & trying to relax. I was so hooked that I ended up having to drain the tub and fill it back up twice because the water got cold! The story was interesting and the plot was different than anything I've read lately. The characters were all perfect and they all fit so well together! The chemistry between "Sarah" and Lord Eastleigh was AMAZING! From the very beginning I was in love with the two of them! I would absolutely recommend this book to everyone!

Legend claims this antique Irish wedding veil can grant your heart's deepest desire. But be careful what you wish for...
The moment Texas socialite Delaney Cartwright touches the veil, she knows she can't go through with her wedding. And it's not just because she envisions a stranger's dark eyes and irresistible lips the second her fingers hit lace. But she can't simply call the whole thing off. The nuptials to her nice, predictable childhood friend are the social event of the season (not to mention that her mother would freak). To fan the flames of this dying ember, Delaney abducts her fiance for a night of passion...and grabs the wrong guy! It isn't her fault that Detective Nick Vinetti of the oddly familiar eyes and lips has crossed her path--and looks game for all kinds of sexy fun.
Now Delaney hatches an outrageous plan to get out of marrying: she'll hire her own kidnapper. With an altar to avoid and a cop to dream of, this runaway bride is hoping a little Irish magic will unveil the true destiny of her heart.

There were so many things that I loved about this book! The cover was super cute & is what caught my attention. I also really like Lori Wilde & everything I've read of hers! I loved all the different pieces that fit together to form this story. The characters were well developed & the storyline was interesting. The only thing I didn't like was that some parts seemed to be a little too drawn out & I had a few sections of the story that I started to lose interest. I was quickly sucked back in & I fell more in love with Delaney and Nick with each chapter!

If high school is all about social status, Indigo Blackwood has it made. Sure, her quirky mom owns an occult shop, and a nerd just won’t stop trying to be her friend, but Indie is a popular cheerleader with a football-star boyfriend and a social circle powerful enough to ruin everyone at school. Who wouldn’t want to be her?

Then a guy dies right before her eyes. And the dusty old family Bible her mom is freakishly possessive of is stolen. But it’s when a frustratingly sexy stranger named Bishop enters Indie’s world that she learns her destiny involves a lot more than pom-poms and parties. If she doesn’t get the Bible back, every witch on the planet will die. And that’s seriously bad news for Indie, because according to Bishop, she’s a witch too.

Suddenly forced into a centuries-old war between witches and sorcerers, Indie’s about to uncover the many dark truths about her life—and a future unlike any she ever imagined on top of the cheer pyramid.

Everyone has heard the saying "Never judge a book by it's cover," & in a lot of circumstances that saying is true, however it was the cover that made me want to read this book and I'm so glad I did! I loved Indigo from the very beginning! I knew right away that there were going to be issues with her "best friend" & her boyfriend, I was just waiting for them to happen! I also LOVED Bishop and really wanted the two of them to get together! There were so many characters that all added something different to the story & it all came together to make pure perfection! I would definitely recommend this book & I can't wait to read more!!

A forbidden love…with a prince!

Attorney Carolena Baretti keeps her cards close to her chest. But when a chance encounter with the handsome prince ignites a fiery attraction, Carolena finds that he may just be the one man she can trust….

Crown prince Valentino finds himself increasingly distracted from his duty by commoner Carolena. But Valentino is playing with fire. To be with Carolena he would have to sacrifice everything—including his right to the throne….

I have a thing for books that involve royalty, but something about this book kept me from getting hooked. I'm not sure if it was the characters or the storyline, but I felt like I had to force myself to finish it. Carolena was a decent character, but there wasn't anything about her that really made me fall in love with her. I felt the same about Valentino. He was a fine character, I liked him, but he just didn't do anything for me. And as a couple they fell flat. Honestly, I wish I hadn't wasted my time on this book.
